To calculate the venting requirements for an air compressor room, you need to determine the volume of air (CFM) required to remove the heat rejected by the machine so the room temperature stays within safe operating limits
Important Installation Tips
- Negative Pressure: Ensure the room has an intake louver that is at least $1.5 \times$ the size of the exhaust fan/duct to prevent creating a vacuum, which would starve the compressor of air.
- Ducting: If you are ducting the hot air directly from the compressor's cooling fan to the outside, you may need an auxiliary "booster" fan if the duct run is long or has several bends, as compressor fans aren't designed for high static pressure.
- Air Changes: For smaller rooms, a secondary check is to ensure you have at least 10 to 20 air changes per hour to prevent localized "hot spots."
